How do I determine which size Versa-Gate to order for my truck?
Measure the height of the bed of the truck. The Versa-gate should be about 2” shorter than the bed height.
How much weight will the Versa-Gate hold?
You should never put more weight on the tailgate than the manufacturer recommends, usually 100 lbs.
Does the Versa-Gate install permanently on my truck?
No – that is the versatility of the Versa-Gate. It can be removed and installed on another truck of the same size just by readjusting the hold-down cable.
If it doesn't install permanently, how do I keep it secure?
Each pressure clamp has a built-in lock hasp for that purpose. Just install a small lock on the hasp for security.
Will the Versa-Gate work with a drop-in bed liners?
Yes, the Versa-Gate will work with bed liners in place, whether they are drop-in or sprayed on.
Some tailgates have a small 3" cap on them. Will this matter?
Yes, this matters. The Versa-Gate will not work with these caps.
How long does it take to install the Versa-Gate?
The initial installation, which sets tension on the hold-down cable takes approximately 2 minutes. After that the Versa-Gate can be installed in about 30 seconds.
Once the Versa-Gate is installed, do I ever need to adjust it?
Generally no – but you should occasionally check the hold-down cable tension due to road vibration.
When I use the Versa-Gate as a cargo divider, will it work anywhere in the bed?
Yes, but it will work best between the wheel wells. You can get more tension in that location.
If I need to store the Versa-Gate, can I leave it in the bed of the truck?
Yes, storage is easy. You can install it as a cargo divider at the front of the bed, put it behind the seats or hang it on the wall of your garage. Since it is only about 4” thick, it takes up very little space.
